It uses SFI fuel injection, has 4 valves per cylinder with BMW's double-VANOS and Valvetronic technologies and features fracture-split forged powdered metal connecting rods. In the International Engine of the Year awards in 2002, the N62 won overall as well as claiming the "Best New Engine" and "Above 4-litre" categories. The N62B36 is a 3.6 L (3600 cc) version producing 200 kW (272 hp) at 6200 rpm and 360 N m (266 ft lbf) of torque at 3700 rpm. Bore is 84 mm and stroke is 81.2 mm.
