Women in Assam, especially the rural tribal and non-tribal people are bounded by different customs and traditions and take an active role in its preservation and help to transmit it from generation to generation. They perform various roles governed by socio cultural aspects unique to each community. The rural population is mostly agriculturist and it is the base of their main socio-economic identity. Most of them are economically poor and have a subsistence way of living using age old traditional method of farming. Mechanization helps in introducing efficiency and enhance production in agricultural sector as a whole. It helps in reducing cost of production and workload, increase time use efficiency for speedy accomplishment and simultaneously facilitate more than one activity, create newer opportunities for both men women in allied sectors. It also preserve quality and often impart economic value to the produce there by improve the standard of living.
