Bohumil Kubi ta. Self-Portrait as a Diary
Details
The object of interest of this book is a Czech painter Bohumil Kubi ta (1884-1918). The important part of his creation consists of self-portraits. In this work they are examined within Historical Anthropology focusin on the possibility to reconstruct its total value as an authentic source. Kubi ta formed his self-portraits a lifetime, therefore we can put them in chronological order in the form of the fictional diary. The unifying element is his artistic vision: it is created in Self-Portrait line drawing (1906), the transformation begins in Double (1911), it culminates in Saint Sebastian (1912) and finally he parted with it in Hanged (1915). In this way his self-portraits can become the starting source for possible further examination of his personality and they can be useful to historians or to anyone who is interessed.
