Bowel Ultrasound Compared with Endoscopy
Details
This book provides a unique comparison between gastrointestinal ultrasound (GIUS) and endoscopy for the assessment of intestinal bowel disease (IBD). GIUS is a valuable non-invasive tool in the management of IBD that has the potential to shift the clinical practice paradigm. Currently underused in clinical practice, GIUS complements conventional endoscopy and cross-sectional imaging. One of the key challenges in facilitating the uptake of GIUS in the routine clinical practice has been the lack of an internationally recognized training curriculum. This edited atlas will be an invaluable source of information on the relevance of GIUS investigation in IBD patients, compared with endoscopy findings. Given that IBD is a cornerstone topic in gastroenterology, gastroenterologists, internists and radiologists need to acquire competence with GIUSthe technique of choice for the immediate and objective evaluation of the abdomen.
The book has been created under the patronage of two prominent scientific societies: IgIBD (Italian Group for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases), one of the leading Italian organizations in the field of gastroenterology and imaging diagnostics, and the IBUS Group (International Bowel Ultrasound Group), a distinguished international organization dedicated to the teaching and promotion of intestinal ultrasound techniques. The endorsement of these two prestigious societies underscores the atlas's significant role in the education and dissemination of ultrasound techniques for the study of intestinal loops, contributing to the continuous advancement of knowledge in this clinical and diagnostic field.
Comparing ultrasound and endoscopic images of inflammatory bowel disease Presenting over 200 high-quality illustrations of IUS findings Showcasing clinical cases with videos and simple and direct language to facilitate learning
