Brake Pad Tribology

In a Brake System, brake pads are the important components which affect the driving security and braking performance. A vast number of traffic accidents occur due to the problems related to brake pads. The brake pads should have high strength, stable coefficient of friction, low wear and low noise. The brake performance is not only affected by the brake pad but also by the way the driver applies the brake. Therefore, it is imperative to study the formulation of brake pad material which affects the performance of brake system.
