Ledenyov schloss sein Studium der Radiophysik und Elektronik an der V. N. Karazin Kharkiv Nationalen Universität in den Jahren 1994 - 1999 ab. Dimitri forscht von 2000 bis 2018 an den Universitäten von James Cook.
