Business Ethics and CSR Education in Bangladeshi Universities
Details
Academic courses on Business Ethics, CSR and Sustainability have been introduced by prominent business schools worldwide. Several factors were identified as catalysts behind adoption of these courses, including globalization, corporate scandals, and expansion of civil society. However, there is a lack of adequate research on what skills and values these courses aim to develop in business students, and what components can make these courses more effective. Especially, there is a lack of adequate study on South Asian business schools. The purpose of this study was to investigate what distinctive skills business ethics and CSR courses aim to develop in business students from the viewpoint of course instructors who design and teach these courses in four Bangladeshi universities. Findings of the study suggested that business ethics and CSR courses aim to equip students with significant skills, and there is a growing demand of these skills at a professional level, especially in a Third World country like Bangladesh.
