The study was an effort to explore indications & outcomes for the rising caesarean in Dhaka medical college & Ad-din health facilities in Bangladesh; perspective of women attending those facilities & Health workers working there.A mixed method design was used. Quantitative part was the secondary data collected from health registers to identify the proportion of caesarean section among women admitted to the hospital and, identify indications and outcomes of caesarean section among women admitted in the hospitals. Qualitative part consisted of conducting in-depth interviews with women who with experience of caesarean section and health providers of the same facility to understand women s experiences in regard to caesarean section and understand health workers perspectives regarding caesarean section.Although this study, presented a snap shot of two health facilities in a confined area of Dhaka City, the issues raised are relevant to similar settings in the country.

Ronald Tibiita is a public health professional with a masters in Public Health from James P Grant School of Public Health, Brac University, Dhaka Bangladesh. He attained a Bachelors Degree in social work and social administration from Makerere University, Kampala Uganda. Currently, he works with Brac Uganda in the research & evaluation unit.
