Café Cultural/Encontro de Ideias: an Intervention Project

The aim of this intervention project, called Café Cultural/Encontro de Ideias (Cultural Café/Encounter of Ideas), was to promote interdisciplinarity and stimulate research in academic and cultural areas, providing meetings between teachers, researchers, artists and high school students, postgraduate students and the public interested in expanding their knowledge of socio-cultural issues. Themes of diverse values were combined with the problems of the cultural industry: theater, music, literature and sociology. The first season of this project was held at the Lúcio Craveiro da Silva library in the city of Braga - Portugal, outside the confines of schools and universities, thus providing greater access to knowledge and without any distinction or prerequisites for public participation. The themes applied in this action were intended to provide further clarification about the different artistic segments, as well as their specificities. The meeting ended with a timely presentation of topics from sociology, which deals with the social life of individuals and groups.
