It is known from Cuba and the United States (Florida). The larvae feed on Bursera gummifera, Bursera simaruba and Persea americana. They mine the leaves of their host plant. The mine has the form of a small triangular mine between the midrib and another rib. It is found on the underside of the leaf. A moth is an insect closely related to the butterfly, both being of the order Lepidoptera. Moths form the majority of this order; there are thought to be 150,000 to 250,000 different species of moth (about ten times the number of species of butterfly), with thousands of species yet to be described.
