Details

The first step was to verify the effect of the owner-manager's profile on access to external financing for family-owned SMEs in Cameroon. To achieve this objective, we used Chi-square tests and logistic regression to find that the level of education and type of training of the owner-manager had a significant and negative influence on access to bank credit by family SMEs, and that the age, religious affiliation, origin, and experience of the owner-manager, as well as age and size, had a significant and positive influence on access to bank credit by family SMEs in Cameroon. Second, to explain performance (social and environmental) in order to determine whether family ownership and the structure of family SMEs influence their social and environmental performance. This second objective is achieved through factor analysis, the Chi-square test of independence and logistic regression, which show that family ownership has a positive and significant influence on social and environmental performance.
