CATTLE COMMERCIAL OFF-TAKE IN PASTORAL AREAS OF HADIYA ZONE

Government of Ethiopia is undertaking different measures to appreciate level of exports and hence foreign currency earnings. To this end different measures are being undertaken. These measures are supposed to increase Ethiopia's foreign exchange earnings and improving the livelihoods of livestock producers and other actors engaged in the livestock related activities. But the sector is facing different challenges with varying intensity. The fundamental of them is poor commercial off-take all over the country and particularly in pastoral areas. This work has identified major determinants of cattle commercial off-take in pastoral areas of Hadiya zone and tried to characterize the cattle marketing system in the area making commodity chain analysis. Hence, the book is believed to be a good reference for students, teachers, researchers and policy makers.

The author was born in Jimma town and attended his primary and secondary education in Gimbichu and Hossana towns. Graduating From Bahir Dar university in economics served in Hadiya zone before joining Haramaya University where he graduated in Agricultural economics. currently serving as a lecturer in Jimma University.
