CBCT Evaluation of Residual Dentin Thickness

Cleaning and shaping of root canals removes all the tissue debris from the root canal space while removing the inner layers of root canal dentin irrespective of the instrumentation technique..The thickness of the remaining dentin following all intra-radicular procedures is the most important iatrogenic factor that correlates to the fracture resistance of the root. Earlier Stainless steel files were used for cleaning and shaping but the preparations were not conservative of apical dentin. Now a day's concept of both Multiple File System and Single File System is used .With the advent of these rotary systems, cleaning and shaping has become easier and convenient.This book helps in identifying the various factors that influence the shaping outcomes and remaining dentin thickness in the root canal with the Nickel titanium (Ni-Ti) rotary instruments such as preoperative root-canal anatomy and design of instrument tip.
