Cellulase and Biofuels: An Intertwined Story

One of the greatest challenges of this century is to meet the growing demand of energy for various purposes like transportation, heating and industrial processes, and to provide raw materials for industries in sustainable and environment friendly ways. Biofuels have been thought to be an ideal option to meet these requirements in a sustainable way. Enzymes like Cellulases are treasure box to be explored for Biofuel production in a cost effective way using lignocellulosic waste like wheat bran.

Dr. Suvroma Gupta is working as Head in the Department of Biotechnology, Haldia Institute of Technology, West Bengal, INDIA. She has published more than 30 papers, edited special issue for Current Chemical Biology, Bentham Publisher. She has undertaken several Government of INDIA funded research projects. She is visiting fellow in JNCASR (2011-12).
