Ceramic Products Manufacturing Using Local Raw Materials

Small and medium scale enterprises play vital roles in industrial development. This book seek to highlight ceramic manufacturing processes using local raw materials and operational modalities in a small scale establishment for basic training of potters, field workers and entrepreneurs who are involved in small and medium scale ceramic business. Today's ceramic industry is one of the major employment generation and wealth creation sector in the world. In order to revive the industry in Africa, significant research and development investments in local mineral processing techniques have to be improved. This book intend to provide information and capture manufacturing processes, tools and locally sourced raw materials used in production. The book content is as follows. Chapter one contain a brief introduction and definition of ceramics, pottery. Chapter two discusses the basic ceramic raw materials used in production. Chapter three, production processes, machines and safety measures observed. Chapter four mention the processes involved in mould making and chapter five, glaze classification and the dynamics of temperature in kiln operation.

Christopher Okpanachi licenciou-se no Politécnico de Kaduna com um Diploma Nacional Superior (HND) em Engenharia de Processamento Mineral. Trabalhou em vários projectos, como o estudo de viabilidade para a segunda fábrica de cimento proposta pelo Estado de Benue, e trabalha atualmente com o Instituto de Desenvolvimento de Equipamento Científico, Minna, Nigéria.
