Chadian youth: sacrificed and excluded from public affairs

Young people face major educational problems in Chad: the poor school and health system, the highly selective nature of schooling, and the inadequacy of the overall education system to the prevailing socio-economic realities. Although the educational aspirations of young people are high, financial constraints, the absence of schools in some rural and semi-rural areas and the obligation to help parents in the fields or in small businesses (fields, cooking, animal husbandry, carpentry, masonry, commerce), for example, many young people are forced to drop out of school because of their families' financial difficulties. Others are not enrolled in school because of the lack of teachers and the inadequacy of the school infrastructure. domestic work has a more negative impact on the schooling of young girls, who have to do most of the housework. "Socio-economic status and level of access to water services are significant. For example, girls from poorer backgrounds are half as likely to attend school as those from better-off households.
