This book has 17 Chapters, commencing from the world and Philippine history of the industry, the status of the industry, some useful statistics on the production and productivity, the profile of farms and farmers, climatic conditions, preparation of farm plans and budgets as a management tool, current data on the extension services. In detail was the discussion on the relationship of productivity and sugarcane farms and farmers' profile, sugarcane management indicators and the extent of government services, and various farm management practices of the sugarcane farmers. On top were the reasons why farmers have to prepare farm plans and budgets prior to the start of the operations.Furthermore, the status of services extended by the government to the farmers and the factors that directly affect productivity are also discussed.The innovations employed by the farmers to increase their income in order to sustain their farming as a business is also included.A sample template on the preparation of farm plans and budgets is included in this book as a guide.

Autorentext

The lead author is a retired government employee & had been in the sugarcane industry for almost 40 years. Presently he is a Faculty at the UNO-R, School of Agriculture, Philippines. He is the only accredited Competency Assessor for Sugarcane Production NC. He had published a book on sugarcane and 4 articles in an international journal.
