Challenges young female entrepreneurs face
Details
This study sought to analyze contextual challenges young female entrepreneurs face and the resources they need, with a view to recommend strategies to empower young female entrepreneurs. The theoretical underpinning of this study was organizational ecology theory. The theory assumes that contextual factors such as social, economic, and political conditions of a place affect the survival or life of an organization. This can make an organization survive or grow if the organization fits that environment. Therefore, the role of the organization is to respond to the external environmental forces that affect it. This largely depends on the ability of the leaders and the capacity of the organization to stand environmental threats. A ten question survey addressing key questions was used to elicit information from the respondents. The survey involved both open and closed ended questions administered to the respondents directly. Focus group discussions was used to discuss and understand various experiences of the participants and to gain in-depth understanding of factors that affect female entrepreneurs in Congo and the threats young female entrepreneurs face.
