Changes in Brain Visually Evoked Potentials with Attention
Details
Attention has many aspects and is difficulty to measure in an objective manner. Some recent measures including, the spontaneous electroencephalogram (EEG) and potentials arising from external stimuli (evoked potentials) provide tools with promise for objectively measuring facets of attention. This book provides a detailed review of the literature on both visual selective attention, and visual evoked potentials. It covers the use of these measures for investigating attention. More detailed content includes: a chapter with in-depth derivation and explanations of several common mapping techniques for scalp-recorded potentials; another chapter that illustrates changes in attention observed with brain-injured individuals. Those working in the technical EEG & EP area wishing to extend their expertise in attention, and also those in the cognitive sciences area wanting to explore brain electrical techniques for use in the study of attention will find this a useful addition to their reference shelves.
