Elmer Figueroa Arce (born June 28, 1968), best known under the stage name Chayanne, is a Puerto Rican Latin pop singer and actor. As a solo artist, Chayanne has released 21 solo-albums and sold over 20 million albums worldwide. Elmer Figueroa Arce was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, but moved with his family as a child to San Lorenzo on 29 June 1968. He was the third of five siblings. After the birth of two more siblings the family moved to San Lorenzo in the southeast part of the island (called El Pueblo de los Samaritanos - The Town of Samaritans - or La Tierra de las Leyendas - The Land of Legends).
