Checklist of scleractinian corals of India with their IUCN status

This book represents a detailed checklist of Indian scleractinian corals from all the reef areas. A total of 628 recorded species of hard corals are depicted in a table with their distributional pattern. The data on a total of 588 species of scleractinian corals of Andaman and Nicobar Islands were depicted on the basis of comprehensive field surveys since 2009 along with the available literature while the scleractinian species diversity of other reef areas of India were included on the basis of available literature. The status evaluation was included under the IUCN Redlist category and criteria to recognize the species. Local occurrence of all the recorded hard corals of Andaman and Nicobar Islands were showcased in this book. This book is the first initiative to document the entire reef building as well as non-reef building species database of Indian waters along with their global and regional status.
