By detailing the chemical structure, mechanism of action and synthesis of these compounds, it analyzes their interactions with metals and biological enzymes, as well as their effects on biochemical processes. The book then examines the environmental and health consequences, focusing on soil and water contamination and risks to human health, including cancer. Case studies provide specific data on each pesticide, while alternatives and solutions, including impact-reduction methods and approaches to degradation, are discussed. Finally, the potential role of cytochrome P450 in pesticide degradation is explored, opening up prospects for future research and regulatory improvements.

Investigador independente em química bioinorgânica, o Dr. Mimouni é especialista em síntese e caraterização macromolecular. Obteve o seu doutoramento em Química na Universidade de Paris XII em 1997, após um Diplôme des Études Approfondies em Sistemas Bioinorgânicos na Universidade de Paris XI em 1993, onde também obteve a sua Licenciatura e Mestrado em Química.
