Chhoti Gandak River Basin Ganga Plain, India

This book is a comprehensive coverage of fluvial dynamics and alluvial stratigraphy of Chhoti Gandak River Basin, which is a part of Gandak Megafan. This book deals with fluvial processes and development of different fluvial landforms (depositional and erosional), basin morphometry, control of climate and tectonic and the shallow subsurface characteristics of the Chhoti Gandak River Basin. The control of climate and tectonic in Ganga Plain (in general) and in Chhoti Gandak River Basin (in particular) have great significance in understanding the fluvial dynamics and alluvial stratigraphy of the area. It is an effort for betterment of our understanding of the fluvial dynamics, which is an ultimate requisite for long term and integrated river basin management to prevent population and property from recurring flood hazards. This work carried out for the Ph.D. thesis of Amit Kr. Awasthi.

Dr. Amit Kr. Awasthi, has obtained his Ph.D. in Geology from University of Lucknow, Lucknow, India in 2012. He has published number of research articles in reputed national and international journals. Dr. Awasthi expertise in Sedimentology and Quaternary Geology.
