Child Mortality as a Human Rights Issue

This book is an appraisal of Malawi's compliance with its human rights obligations to prevent and reduce child mortality. International human rights law provides a secure basis for the right to health for children in Malawi. Although Malawi has made progress to ensure meaningful realization of the right to health for children in line with its human rights obligations, child mortality remains an issue of concern. This challenges Malawi to do more to fully comply with its obligations by preventing and reducing child mortality.

George Jotham Kondowe holds a Master of Arts in Theory and Practice of Human Rights from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom and Bachelor of Arts (Education) from Mzuzu University in Malawi. George is a Chevening scholar; Programme Director at SOS Children's Villages Malawi; former Principal Human Rights Officer at the Malawi Human Rights Commission as well as former Senior Police Officer in the Malawi Police Service.
