Details

Social work combines theory and practice to address challenges faced by marginalized individuals and communities. This study examines a 60-day fieldwork at Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which provides shelter, education, vocational training, and psychosocial support for orphaned children. Using observations, case studies, and record analysis, the study assessed program effectiveness, operational challenges, and impacts. Findings reveal limited resources, restricted access to modern vocational training, and inadequate mental health support. Despite these, educational and vocational programs improved academic performance and social integration, while psychosocial care enhanced emotional well-being. The study highlights the need to expand vocational training into agriculture, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship, strengthen trauma-informed care, and improve financial sustainability through income-generating activities. Community engagement, family involvement, and NGO partnerships are essential for supporting children's long-term development.
