Children of the In-between Culture
Details
This work is aimed at understanding how Turkish
children raised in Germany by Turkish parents have
adapted to Turkey upon their return in the early to
mid-80s. Being very young at the time of their
return and not having received any formal form of
support, these pre-adolescents were left to their
own devices. Through interviews with these former
children, it was explored how they became adjusted.
Each one of them applied different strategies and
somehow found 'their way in the dark'.
