Chitosan Particulate System As Vitamin C Carrier

Vitamin C is an essential water-soluble vitamin, has a variety of biological, pharmaceutical and dermatological functions. It is very unstable to air, moisture, light, heat, and oxygen. Due to so many environmental, physical and chemical instability constrain it becomes challenging to develop such a drug delivery system for stabilized release of vitamin C.This book focuses on the microencapsulation of Vitamin C using a biodegradable biopolymer to increase its retention time within the body, control its release as well as to modify its physical properties for easier handling. The microspeheres formulated were characterized for various parameters like their percentage yield, morphology, particle size, swelling index, encapsulation efficiency and in vitro drug release rate.
