Chlorella Vulgaris: "Attractive source for Biodiesel Production"
Details
Faster growth of algae has attracted them as a potential source of lipids, methane and ethanol but these end applications desire that cultural conditions may be optimized to maximize cell mass formation and intracellular constituents. Freshwater algae Chlorella vulgaris was attempted for starter (1000 mL flask), and intermediate culture (10 L) to optimize process variables to enhance cell mass formation and lipid content of microalga. When organism was re grown under optimized bioprocess conditions, the test organism supported maximum cell mass formation rate and lipid formation rate which were found higher than those reported by other workers. Using the bioinformatics tools such as ERGOTM for the analysis of genes involved in lipid metabolism, will enhance the lipid production.
