CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION

This book makes a vivid presentation of what citizenship and citizenship education are all about. Marriage as one of the ways of acquiring citizenship, types of citizenship, the aims and the roles of citizenship education in nation building are also discussed. The fundamental rights of citizens, how to safeguarding rights and the obligations of the citizens to the state or country are also duly highlighted. The impacts of education to citizens, the parts played by schools in handling citizenship education, and the contemporary citizenship issues and challenges have also been expounded. The writer is of the opinion that citizens, netizens, non-citizens, and even denizens should know about the legal, civil, social, economic and cultural rights of the country they reside in, in order that they perform their obligations well. The state should on its part uphold and preserve the rights of citizens efficiently, for a peaceful co-existence of all and the development of the country at large.I hereby recommend this book to students, lecturers and others who would want to begin the journey of growing in their knowledge of citizenship education.
