Bangladesh is facing serious energy crisis which is great barrier to overall development. Known reserves (e.g., natural gas and coal) of commercial primary energy sources in Bangladesh are limited in comparison to the development requirements of the nation. In Bangladesh, around 65% of people having lack accesses to electricity and most of them are living in village. Among them about 44% of them are living below poverty line. On the other hand Climate change puts addition threats to development. To combat these situations, renewable energy technology stands out to be one of the prospective sources to meet its unprecedented energy demand and can contribute to achieve sustainable development as country has plentiful supply of renewable sources of energy. This book tries to find out the window of opportunity of Bangladesh has towards development of low-carbon society and ensure sustainable development through renewable energy sources.
Autorentext
Holds Bachelor and Master Degree on Environmental Sciences from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. Additionally he did fellowship on Green ICT and Environment from Japan. His fields of expertise are sustainable development, climate change, disaster risk reduction, environmental health, environmental management and governance.
