Climate-Smart and Circular Agriculture of Georgia
Details
Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) and Circular Agriculture (CA) are an approach to help the farmers of Georgia living in villages manage agricultural systems respond effectively to climate and environment changes. CSA and CA approach pursues the triple objectives of sustainably increasing productivity and incomes adapting to climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible. This does not imply that every practice applied in every country should produce "triple wins". Rather the CSA approach seeks to reduce trade-offs and promote synergies by taking these objectives in consideration and inform decisions from the local to the global scales. Mitigation can often be a significant co-benefit of actions to strengthen adaptation and enhance food security and thus mitigation action compatible with national development priorities for agriculture is an important aspect of CSA. CA can reduce resources of requirement and consumption and the ecological footprint of modern agriculture. It can help ensure a reduction in agricultural land-use, chemical fertilizers and pesticides, their waste, which makes it possible to reduce global CO2 emission and climate changes.
