Clinical Epidemiological Profile of Acute Diarrhoeal Syndrome

Diarrhoea is considered one of the leading causes of death worldwide, especially in the paediatric age group, as well as a public health problem, given the high number of cases each year and the costs of treatment. The increased costs are due to dehydration and malnutrition, which are the result of poor nutrition during acute diarrhoea, leading to superinfection and increased morbidity and mortality.
