Introduction: The buccal mucosa can be affected by traumatic lesions, viral, fungal and bacterial infections, as well as benign and malignant tumours, developmental malformations and autoimmune, genetic and psychosomatic diseases, among others.Objective: To clinically and epidemiologically characterise patients with oral cancer and other lesions of the oromaxillofacial complex.Methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out on 56 patients of both sexes, with some morphological alteration evident in the buccomaxillofacial complex, attended in the Stomatology Service of the Policlínico Eduardo Mesa Llull of the II Frente municipality of Santiago de Cuba, from September 2015 to the same month of 2017. The variables analysed included: age, sex, skin colour, anatomical location, definitive diagnosis and histological type. Primary information was obtained from interviews and medical records. In addition, a thorough physical examination was performed and biopsy specimens were taken to diagnose the conditions present.

He was born in the city of Santiago de Cuba. He obtained his bachelor's degree at the IPU Cuqui Bosh Soto. He worked as a student assistant in the speciality of Oral Surgery, where he obtained his category as Instructor Professor. He graduated in 2015 as Doctor in Stomatology, obtaining a Gold Degree.
