Details

The study finds the patterns of bilingual children s code-switching during conversation who acquired Bangla as their first language and English as a second language. The study takes a closer look at bilingual children s speech performances from two-word to telegraphic stage and finds if the code-switching patterns occur in an order during their speech development. It also presents the percentage of the frequency level of the occurred code-switching patterns, the fundamental triggers for code-switching, and the reasons behind the children s and parents code-switching. Code-switching is the central issue of bilingual research (Milroy, 1995, p. 7) and the study findings contribute more information on code-switching and early bilingualism.
