Collaborative Concept Mapping as an InstructionalStrategy
Details
Given mixed findings on collaborative concept mappingfrom prior studies, this study attempts to addresssome of the specific aspects of the technique, namely, key concepts availability and propositionformation, to see whether providing such supportwould benefit the learners with little prior exposureto the technique and low familiarity with the topicon which they were instructed to construct a conceptmap. The results, contradictory to what was expected, were that such support did not benefit novicelearners. It is suggested that additional research inthis area is needed to gain a better understanding ofeffective use of the technique in group settings.
