Community-Based Ecotourism in Adaba-Dodola Protected Forest
Details
Many conservationists believe that ecotourism may help protect forests and traditional cultures while also meeting the economic needs of local residents. Hence, it has been praised as the cure for ecological sustainability, economic profitability and community-based development. However, community-based ecotourism incurs numerous impacts on the community although most of the literatures speak only of the economic ones. This book analyzes and discusses the environmental, economic, and socio-cultural impacts of community-based ecotourism on individual community members, their surroundings, the way the community perceived the impacts, stakeholders service offerings evaluation and implications on sustainability of the industry in Adaba-Dodola Protected Forest. This book, therefore, contributes to the comprehensive understanding of community-based ecotourism s impacts and is important for tourism planners, conservationists, geographers, economists, gender experts, anthropologists and development workers.
