Competitive Intelligence for the Regional Development in Indonesia

This book presents the research result on the application of competitive intelligence for the development of clove small enterprises (SEs) in Minahasa region,Indonesia. The problems are facing of clove farmers are lack of information on clove market and innovation, the clove price is decided by buyer, and lack of attention for SEs by government. CI method is alternative approach in order to solve problems that are facing by farmers, companies or governments. The research results show that the information system of competitive intelligence is feasible to be established in Minahasa and it becomes a need for developing regional economy, i.e. clove farmers as small enterprises. Clove commodity will be profitable by applying new innovation in cultivation and it will be more competitive if there are the SEs that will establish clove oil industry. There are some programs that must be done by responsible organization to establish the clove SEs that are: creating the ISCI, regulation of marketing cloves, rehabilitation of cloves farming, intensification of cloves farming, mixed-cropping, financial aid, reforming farmer groups, strengthening clove SE,and establishment clove oil industry.
