Analysis of multiphysics problems, and in particular, the simulation of fluid solid interactions, has been the focus of intensive research in recent years. This is mainly because that numerical methods provide powerful and computationally efficient modern techniques for the solution of complex engineering problems. In the present book a novel mathematical model has been developed and employed as a tool for predictive filter design through definition of the stresses and deformations of porous media under working conditions. The failure criterion prediction that provides a chance to assess the filters suitability for a given process.

Dr Goodarz Khodabakhshi obtained his PhD in chemical engineering at Loughborough University. He is currently a researcher in at university of Sheffield leading a group in conducting research into developing virtual environment for modelling human body organs.He has over 10 years experience,both academic and industrial,in computer modelling.
