Conceptual design of a static test bench

This document presents the methodological process followed for the design of a static test bench for G and K type rocket engines. As a starting point, a detailed study of the existing test benches for this type of engines, their components and the variables that can be controlled during their operation was carried out. By means of brainstorming and applying the house of quality, 6 different concepts of benches were proposed. From the above, it was possible to establish that stainless steel, thanks to its physical and mechanical properties, is the advisable material for the construction of the BEMCO since it supports the efforts generated by it. Under the global concepts, it was possible to identify the static loads to which the motor will be subjected, and the dynamic loads when it is in operation; additionally, it was possible to select the basic components that the bench should have. Finally, it was established that the best option is concept number 1, since it meets the requirements requested by the client.
