Conflict-Induced Migration: Opportunities & Lessons from Africa
Details
Although violent conflicts lead to migration, there is a fundamental mistake to conclude that recent migration statistics are globally unprecedented simply because of Europe's ill-preparedness to adequately respond to the influx of migrants. This is especially so because conflicts, especially in Africa have been continuous since colonialism; and none has stopped to reflect on where migrants from Africa went to before now; or what policies the longstanding host states applied in dealing with migration.
