Consciousness among Ewé Migrants in North America
Details
This project attempts to identify reasons and causes of strong consciousness among Ghanaian and Togolese Ewé migrants in the United States and Canada. To understand the strong sense of Ewé consciousness among those living in the United States and Canada; I will focus on the historical questions of ethnicity, regionalism and politics in Ghana and Togo. Using primary and secondary sources as evidence, I will be examining the conception and implementation of Ewé consciousness in United States and Canada vis-à-vis Ghana and Togo. Furthermore, I will contextualize this experience within the broader literature on contemporary African migration to North America and how migration affects notions of Ewé consciousness.
