Constructivism and Grade-12 Learners' Understanding of Calculus
Details
"Constructivism and Grade-12 Learners' Understanding of Calculus" is a research book attempting to find suitable learning strategies for Mathematics. It specifically investigates whether or not the application of constuctivist pedagogical approach can improve the conceptual learning of stationary points in differential calculus at the Grade-12 level of the high school. Using a mixed-method data collection/analysis techniques and quasi-experimental and descriptive research designs, the study involves 204 Grade-12 learners of some high schools in the Gauteng province of South Africa as participants. The results obtained indicate that the study participants in the experimental group given constructivist instruction demonstrate a better understanding of the concept than their counterparts taught by traditional methods.
