The LIS professionals have become actively engaged in development and deployment of ICT. This book is mainly focuses on the impact and application of modern technologies in libraries and explains how librarians can adopt contemporary and innovative technologies in their work area. The practicing librarians have been deeply affected by the ICT and variety of these impacts is explored in the book. Many resources are now available in digital format and these resources are managed electronically using integrated library systems, computer networks, online portals, security systems, cloud computing, mobile technologies, QR codes and social media such as Facebook, twitter, wikis, blogs, chatting tools, Google+, Slide share, YouTube and so on. The library and information centers use these technologies to promote library services, enhancing access to information, updating library refurbishments, encouraging collaboration, developing communities, sharing information, taking feedback from users, mutual communication and to publicize events, services and news.

El Dr. O. Sivasankar Prasad trabaja como bibliotecario en el Sri Venkateswara College (Universidad de Delhi, Nueva Delhi) desde 2001 y también ha trabajado como Jefe del Centro de Recursos del NIFT (Ministerio de Textiles, Gobierno de la India), en Hyderabad, durante dos años. Ha publicado 3 libros, 6 capítulos de libros, 20 artículos de investigación y ha participado en muchas conferencias.
