Control of Hybrid Energy Conversion System based on Wind Turbine
Details
Wind power is considered as one of the most promising renewable energy source that needs definitely to be optimally controlled and managed by the use of hybrid energy conversion system (HECS). This will not product electrical power only but also contribute to grid stability, and ensure reliability and power quality improvement.Several HECS configurations, control and management strategies have been proposed in the literature in order to achieve the previously cited objectives. However, this work focuses on optimal control and power management of a HECS based on variable speed horizontal-axis wind turbine (HAWT), Back-to-back full frequency converter operating in a stand-alone and grid-connected modes. In order to command all these systems appropriately, and avoid their failure, damage or disconnection (in grid-connected mode) as much as possible, decentralized and coordinated power control and management strategies are studied.
