Corporate Social Responsibility

The study of corporate social responsibility (CSR) has assumed increasing significance in many spheres and can be a learning paradigm in the academia, formal and informal sectors and the government circle. The concept has over the years been adopted by organizations voluntarily, with little public knowledge of the extent at which the endeavour had been carried out especially by banks, who have recorded tremendous financial performance since the 'consolidation era'. Also, the views of beneficiaries of banks' host communities across the states in Nigeria were also investigated on banks CSR relevance. This book, therefore, sought to provide better explanation on the nexus between corporate social responsibility and performance of Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) in Nigeria using empirical analysis. It is expected that the book will promote CSR awareness, implementation, evaluation and reporting by firms as well as contribute to literature available for students, researchers and policy makers.

Dr. Lawal obtained his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Business Administration from the University of Ilorin. He is a member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria and the International Society for Development and Sustainability, Japan.
