Costs of Climate Change to Lake Tahoe Ski Areas

Anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation are driving global temperatures up. Regional and impact specific research broadens the understanding of the multifarious nature of climate change and can help experts and non-experts alike better assess the risk of associated with a warming climate. Almost all business will have to consider how they will be affected and how they can mitigate and adapt to climate change. This is a startling realization for the ski industry, as it relies heavily on a well-functioning and predicable climate to bring low temperatures and snow. Without the dependable seasonal cold and snow, ski areas will undoubtedly lose money by having to make more snow, or moving elsewhere to find it.
