COWPEA APHID

POPULATION DYNAMICS, VARIETAL SCREENING AND MANAGEMENT OF APHID, Aphis craccivora KOCH IN COWPEA, Vigna unguiculata (L.) WALP. The management of aphids in cowpea, the cultivar GC 4 should be adopted. The application of flonicamid 50 WG @ 0.015 per cent or thiamethoxam 25 WG 0.010 per cent or chlorfenapyr 10 SC @ 0.015 per cent can be followed. The PCBR was less in thiamethoxam 25 WG @ 0.010 per cent, though this treatment was effective in reducing the aphid population which was reflected both on yield and net realization and also it was found economical.
