CRIMINAL LAW IN TRANSFORMATION

The information age, marked by technological advances and the spread of the internet, has brought with it significant challenges for Brazilian criminal law. The advance of technology has given rise to new types of crime, such as cybercrime, which represent a growing threat to digital security and require an agile and effective legislative response. In addition, although artificial intelligence (AI) is present in many areas, it also poses risks when used inappropriately, which highlights the need for specific laws to regulate its use. The investigation of cybercrime faces obstacles such as the anonymity of criminals and the authentication of digital content, especially with the rise of deepfakes. Obtaining data and the ability to track it, as well as creating specific laws to regulate its use, are essential to overcoming these challenges. Faced with rapid technological evolution and the challenges posed by cybercrime, it is crucial that the Brazilian legal system adapts to develop effective responses to guarantee digital security and justice in the digital age.
