Critical Discourse Analysis and Vladimir Propp's Falktale

Vladimir Propp's "Morphology of the Folktale" is a significant contribution to understanding plot structure. Initially used to analyze Russian folktales, it has been applied to fairytales, Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness," and Charles Dickens's "Our Mutual Friend." This research aims to fill the gap in studying novels in general and modern fiction by examining Nickola Spark's novels, focusing on his use of Propp's theory.
