Crohn's disease: epidemiological study
Details
Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory disease of the digestive system, which evolves through flare-ups (or attacks) and remission phases. It is mainly characterized by attacks of abdominal pain and diarrhea, which can last for several weeks or months. CD was first described in 1932. In this work the aim was to present the new scientific data on this pathology in a bibliographic review and to review its current epidemiology in the Annaba region. Our study allowed to raise some epidemiological characteristics of CD; the sex-ratio F/H was 1.2. The peak age of CD is between 20 and 29 years (40.7%). The prevalence recorded in the ward appears to be increasing compared to the 2008-2014 study (2.1 vs 1.5). The highest risk factor and appendectomy (12.4%). In our study, the evolution of CD in patients treated with anti TNF was satisfactory. Indeed the 6 patients experienced an improvement in their health status without being cured. The improvement consisted of a remission of symptoms and a decrease in complications.
